Potential Changes in Cost
February 25, 2010
Recent information from our suppliers and news sources has made us aware of several potential changes in costs of supplies and materials that could affect our customers, so we want you to know about them before they take effect.
We have been informed that an expected price decrease on sugar has been rescinded, and that due to high demand and competition from other countries, there may be another sugar increase to maintain supply. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
Also, we have received information from our milk supplier stating that, due to the rising costs of federal market orders, raw goods, and transportation, there will likely be an increase on the cost of milk in the near future. Once again, we will keep you informed as things develop further.
In a more positive announcement, a proposed legislation that would have put a federal tax on sugar-sweetened beverages did not pass a vote, saving every American from added cost on their most frequently purchased beverages. This tax would have certainly cost businesses and their customers greatly, making a tough economic environment even tougher.
We will do our best to keep you up to date on any and all issues that could potentially affect you either as a customer of Gallins Foods or as a general citizen. We want to assure you that any price increases that might result from these issues would be due to global increases in cost for supply, and not in our control.
